Education has multidimensional effect in driving ones life. It enhances access to information in many aspects including consequences of environmental degradation in habitation of living creatures including people and, hence it will certainly help for in - time action for its protection. Achievement of the national effort in the areas of education is measured in term of literacy rate. Education is a basic necessity for opening one’s inherent knowledge and skill. It is also necessary for exchanging and sharing ideas, views and experiences with one another. Adoption of new techniques and betterment in any field can be achieved by education. Similarly, education can play an important role indirectly in preventing environmental degradation by performing a functional analysis of causes and effects of environmental degradation. Necessary steps to be taken to combat against the deterioration of environment can be operated with proper education.
Based on these principles, five projects concepts are proposed for increment of literacy rate in Himalayan region:Since mid 1980’s several initiatives have been made to raise the economic standard and improve the quality of life of the Nepalese people.
