We follow TIES 1990 eco-tourism definition as: “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserve the environment and improve the well-being of local people.” Eco-tourism is about uniting conservation, communities, and sustainable travel. This means that those who implement and participate eco-tourism activities should be follow the following eco-tourism principles:

  • Build awareness on conservation, communities and sustainable travel by various educational programs,
  • Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
  • Provide direct financial benefit for conservation
  • Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
  • Raise sensitivity to host countries political environmental and social climate
  • Minimize impact

ECON operates:

  • Education to needy children, adult literacy, teacher volunteering, ecological education, school renovation and school building construction (Principles 1 & 2 above)
  • Tree plantation and conservation projects (Principle 3)
  • Home stay programs operation developing itineraries and routes (Principle 4)
  • Solar and Micro Hydro projects
