Mining & Extraction Stock of Mineral Resources

Mineral deposits can be divided into metallic minerals and nonmetallic minerals. They can further be subdivided into various types based on use occurrence and importance, etc. In Nepal, exploration of mineral deposits has been carried out since long time. The extensive study reveals that Terai area has a good potential or gravel, sand, aggregate, ground water, and oil and gas, whereas the middle Himalayan and Mahabharat shows the potentiality of non-metallic deposits like cement grade limestone, magnesite dolomite, etc. The Mahabharat also shows the occurrence of iron, base metal and talc. The higher Himalayas area has not yet been fully explored for its mineral potentiality because of adverse condition. However indication of gemstone, lead zinc and uranium warrants further exploration
