Assist at an Orphanage

ECON has four Orphanage homes contact in Nepal. ECON has a variety of clinics in which to place you, from remote village clinics to a modern hospital where children from all over Nepal are brought for reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation.

A favorite with our volunteers in this placement is Dhadingbesi, where the small town’s only clinic offers hands-on experience for the volunteer. Most of the volunteers choosing Dhadingbesi are medical or premed students, and people with a little training as paramedics or a lot of training as nurses. The staff there becomes like family with the volunteers; it is a small staff, doctors attending from Kathmandu on Saturdays only. It is a poor area that has quite an array from trauma to simple walk-in cases.
Jyamrung is another option; this bucolic setting in the hills has a very small clinic that treats the village in the hills well above Jyamrung as well as the local folks.

If you are a Medical Doctor we can place you in any discipline of practice in the Government Hospital in Kathmandu or in any small village of Dhading. Whatever degree of experience in any health care field you might possess we will place you in a richly rewarding environment.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival, welcome and transfer to Kathmandu hotel (A)
Day 02: Lamsal Gaun (Village) (1257m) (7-8 hrs) (A,B,L,D)
Day 03: Visit community, interact with and back to home (4-5 hrs) (A,B,L,D)
Day 4-8: 15 days volunteering in the school, please specify your teaching subject (A,B,L,D)
Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu (1350m) (7-8 hrs) (A,B,L)
Day 10: Spare day in Kathmandu (A,B)
Day 11: Airport transfer (B)
