Shivapuri National Park Trail Cleaning Program
Declared as protected watershed and wildlife reserve area in 1976 and further gazetted National Park in 2002, Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (SNNP) is one of the best Eco holiday trip destinations in Nepal from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal and can extend your trip to Nagarkot, Gosaikunda, Helambu and Langtang Valley into Langtang National Park. Several religious sites for the Hindus and the Buddhists lie inside the park. Shivapuri is one of the main sources of drinking water for Kathmandu Valley. Everyday about 30 million liters of water is tapped from rivers such as the Bagmati and the Bishnumati as well as from several other smaller streams. After its declaration of National Park in 2002, several surveys were carried out to determine the faunal diversity of the ecologically conserved area.
The trail inside National Park is being polluted by non biodegradable wastage such as plastics, tins and bottles. We, the team of ECON have planned to clean the route from the Shivapuri Peak to National Park entry point Budha Nilkantha each year on 20th December. If you are interested, you are welcome to join with us.
